Planet in Peril – Democratic Republic of the Congo
June 21, 2008
Actually I planed on writing about the new design of the AC 360° blog but I got distracted by Planet in Peril – Battle Lines so I decided to share some thoughts about that.
First of all I think that Jeff Hutchons from Getty Images made a great job with his black and white photo stills. He gave Planet in Peril a special touch. It’s hard to describe, but the way he took his shots makes every picture and situation even more intense.
Even Anderson talked about Hutchons’ work and took that as a chance to create a slideshow with his voice over. Andy tried to pair the pictures with some poetic words that describe his own feelings. As a news anchor Cooper isn’t a person who’s supposed to sound like an actor performing Shakespeare’s Macbeth but still he had his impact. At least on me – once again.
If you wanna know what I’m talking about, check out his new Reporter’s Notebook from the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
“At first it seems so far away. This Land. This Life. This Africa…”

I’m really looking forward for Planet in Peril. Indeed I think it’s good for Anderson being on a field trip again. In my own special opinion he’d already spend enough time in his studio. This is one of the pieces why he’s admired by so many. Cooper at its best.

The black and white photos are beautiful and poignant and Anderson’s last Reporter’s Notebook was one of his best.
